How does Social Services work in terms of foster children?
Q. To elaborate on this question, I mean to say this: How do Social Workers work, exactly? Is a there a Social Worker assigned to every child, or is there a Social Worker assigned to every area or every parent? Any more information would be a huge plus. Thanks.

A. Yes. Each SW is assigned a caseload. Essentially each child has their own SW. For the families they are assigned a seperate person called a family worker. The Department of Children and families also assigns other people for that child. These can include a home worker, therapist, clinican and down to a respite worker. There is tons of support given to the children and those who choose to take on these kids. The downside of it all is that SWers and the support people have up to 75 kids in some cases. They are extremely over worked and don't have the opportunity to see some of the children on their load more than once a year. Sad to say, the more worse the behavior the more you will see the SW.
