Reason is a mental faculty found in humans, that is able to generate conclusions from assumptions or premises. In other words, it is amongst other things the means by which rational beings propose (specific) reasons, or explanations of cause and effect. In contrast to reason as an abstract noun, a reason is a consideration which explains or justifies. Reason is particularly associated with human nature, that which is most unique and definitive about being human. As a way of coming to conclusions, it is often contrasted not only with the ways in which non-human animals appear to make decisions, but also with decisions based upon authority, intuition, emotion, mysticism, superstition, and faith. Reason is thought by rationalists to be more reliable in discovering what is true or what is best. The precise way in which reason differs from emotion, faith, and tradition is controversial, because all three are considered to be both potentially rational, and potentially in conflict with reason. From Google News Search: "reasonable" Is it reasonable to demand an earthquake retrofit from a home seller? Q. We're in the process of purchasing a home built in 1917. The home is not bolted down to the foundation, is it reasonable to make this demand from the seller? The estimated expense is almost $5000 and we'd like to request a credit. The house has already been inspected by a foundation specialist and the $5000 is based on his estimate. Asked by nutty - Mon Feb 8 16:51:44 2010 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments A. $5,000 sounds a bit cheap for a good bolt and plywood (shear wall) job. but in any event, the reasonableness of a demand is a purely subjective issue. Homes built in 1917 may not have an adequate foundation upon which to install bolts and braces, so what will you expect in that case. You have not indicated that you have done this so if earthquake issues are a serious concern of yours (or of the area in which you are buying the home), you should have the foundation inspected too before you take issue with the house plate. (the part of the house that sits on the foundation). Keep in mind that bolting alone does not guarantee the safety and security of your house in a moderate to large earthquake.. it only keeps the house from sliding… [cont.] Answered by ca_surveyor - Mon Feb 8 18:21:49 2010 How much is reasonable to charge for grass cutting and car washing? Q. How much is reasonable to charge for grass cutting and car washing? I'm looking to raise some funds at the weekend or on evenings after work and I'm in the middle of designing a flyer to post through people's letterboxes. So here's to some good market research...! How much would you be willing to pay for your grass cutting? And How much would you be willing to pay for your car washed? Any other ideas you have will be very useful. Many thanks for your help. Asked by guitarsimon - Sat May 2 12:01:14 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. Assuming you are a capable adult... I would pay $15-20 for a good hand-wash on my black car that gets nasty brake dust on the back wheels. I'd pay more if I had a big SUV, or for interior. As for yard work, it just depends on the yard size, who's mower/gas/weed-eater is used, landscape of the yard, if you pull the weeds, raking, etc. You could print a flyer that allows you to fill in the price and terms for each yard and leave a price on the flyer. That is how I found my last lawn care service. I had just under a 3/4 acre lot, mostly hillside. It was a big chore to mow because even the riding mower could not be used all over the yard. They left a flyer offering to do it for $65. But, they had all the best equipment and a crew. They… [cont.] Answered by Aster - Sat May 2 12:29:54 2009 What is a reasonable price for a pet quality AKC Shetland Sheepdog puppy that is 8 weeks old?
Q. It doesn't have champion lines but there is alot of genetic testing in the pedigree. My friend's neighbor is selling a litter and I just was wondering what is reasonable. They do have full white collars but not perfectly straight stripes on their faces but they are very cute. Both parents are very friendly and I understand that they do agility and obedience with them and they are both therapy dogs. THANKS! Asked by jessica - Wed Jan 30 13:15:01 2008 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments A. The pups have one of the greatest things they can inherit from their parents - a good temperament. Having competed in agility and obedience tells me the parents are trainable and intelligent. And again, the good temperament is reinforced with them being used as theraphy dogs. This sounds like a very nice litter with lots of potential to be outstanding canine citizens. In my area, the Northeast, these pups would sell for $700 - $900. I usually discount the females $100 to help defray spaying cost. Hope this helps. Answered by Roadapple Cider - Wed Jan 30 13:54:39 2008 From Yahoo Answer Search: "reasonable" |
