It just allows a judge to keep the jury from hearing evidence that isn't admissible under the applicable rules of evidence. Consider this. Suppose the prosecution's main witness to a bank robbery is woman. Should the defense be allowed to put in evidence of how many sex partners she has had? Or that she has children out of wedlock from different fathers? Or that her parents were Hitler youth? Obviously not -- this is prejudicial evidence with no probative value that has no relevance whatsoever to the events or to the witness' credibility. I am a little concerned with people who are receiving this favorable ruling in a county that doesn't really any programs such as drug court,domestic violence,to defer a defendant into.Can "any" program that the prosecution feels will be in the interest of justice and the community involve busting other people for the police? As soon as the people do what they should do, there is nothing to worry about them.
